On Friday 4 November, in the Ray White Auction Rooms at Brisbane, Aurizon auctioned off a number of their portfolio of properties throughout Queensland. These properties ranged from vacant land, rural holdings, industrial land, residential homes and some quarters.
Peter Douglas and Andrew Goodall of Ray White Rural in Brisbane were the agents appointed to sell these properties, with Phil Parker acting as auctioneer.
Prior to the auction, 21 of the 40 properties in the portfolio had been sold. Aurizon had made it very clear from the beginning of the process in August, that a big part of the project for them was giving back to and supporting local communities.
The remaining properties in towns such as Ayr, Cardwell, Hughenden, Esk, Dysart, Wamuran and Sarina were taken to auction, with marketing in a number of rural and regional newspapers as well as an interactive website at http://aurizonportfolio.com.au/
The properties received tremendous interest, with spirited bidding from a number of parties both in-room, online and over the phone.

“We were really impressed with the response from the community for these properties” Peter Douglas and Andrew Goodall stated. “Buyers recognised the opportunity to own a piece of Queensland history, with some very strong interest particularly in the blocks with long term leases attached to them.”
Aurizon have expressed how happy they have been with the level of interest throughout the campaign and also that they have been able to give back to the community throughout the process. With the possibility of more properties being released early next year, Peter and Andrew are both looking forward to continuing their strong relationship with Aurizon moving forward.
